a prayer (2023)
May offense, spite, anger and the drawing in and circling around of pain be silenced.
May the sickness of our spirit that yells, “now” and “more” be muted.
May you hear it gasp and not mourn it.
May the doubts and fears be your own and a hill you reckon you can climb.
Not a lie of shadows, but a daily chore that can be overcome.
May all that is indifferent and unkind flee.
May you watch its dust and chuckle.
May you fall down and need help and ask for it.
May the yoke of kindness, gentleness, care and wisdom keep you tethered.
May you wear it well. To honor, with blessing, in protection.
And may you smile in awe and know He’s done it. And say He’s done it.
