My body remembers before I was healed (2022)

“Son your faith has healed you,

Go in peace and be freed from your suffering”

…is what I heard

I may not have believed it if I hadn’t felt

The hem and healing In a single touch,

fleeting hope on the outskirts of all my desperation was met

With nothing short of mighty capacity, and now …

I’m free

Of the pain

Yet still not trusting the sifting of the sounds

Of what other people say, still I hear them and my body remembers

The horrendous guest named trauma

Always reserving early but showing up late

Exhausted by the presence

Here I am, on the beautifully unexpected ledge of “free”

With memories and ears that need to feel the hem anew
