Poetics (1998)
To the school of poets
who failed to pay attention.
My wishes of transcending I will try to mention.
To assault on words with devotion and pride
To arrange thine words with violence to hide
To build a foundation of things unsure
To mold a foundation that may endure
To rhyme a reason
for what is needed
To find cohesion where others retreated
To the school of poets,
the one's who went adrift, with your incompletion of an idle gift.
To the love expressed
alone in a chair
To the sentiment digressed
in lines so fair
To beauty lost
for abstractions gain
To fury's cost
pure as flame
To the school of poets,
of seed unborn, you are your predecessors evening storm.
To a gift of meaning through pale imitations
To an ego's leaning on adorations
To the fading graces as sun to dew
To the school of faces I never knew
