Soil and Roots (2019)

Sitting, looking, dreaming as I gazed into the beyond.

Subtle was the feeling that the things I saw would never make me full.

The hunger. The loss. The want.

They were stronger and so I reached.

And reached.

Like a lopsided tree, I grew, until I fell.

On my back, I gaze up and wonder,

what if I grew my roots in lieu of my branches?
